Dear Pastor, Church, and praying friends:
Outreach and a Special Thanksgiving
As we announced last time, we hosted our first big outreach effort on October 14th. A total of nine came from Romania led by Ind. Baptist missionaries from Australia who have become good friends of ours here. We went to a couple Roma gypsy villages and gave warm clothes for the cold weather to gypsy folks while handing out tracts and trying to get the Gospel across. It was a good effort of sowing seed and we thank you for your prayers for it. You may check out the blog “Gypsyville” Outreach.
We were delighted to have Rachel’s parents for Thanksgiving week! Their church graciously gave to allow them to visit us here, with their main goal of meeting their new grandbaby. We had a great time with them that week and were amused as we saw Serbia through their eyes; we realize that we sure have adapted a lot to Serbia! They were able to participate in a couple slavas while here, which are big dinners put on by Serbs mainly as a Serbian Orthodox tradition. There are lots of traditional foods and it was a great experience for the Boyles.
We had a great Thanksgiving with actual turkey (which is difficult to find in Serbia) and all the other traditional Thanksgiving food. We also were able to buy a car that week which has really been a help. It is a Toyota Corolla which actually has a diesel engine and is a stick shift, an unusual thing to us Americans!
Please keep praying for the salvation of our language tutors, Nenad and Dragana. Sadly, the Gospel does not seem to be sinking in with them yet. In fact, it seems difficult to them to grasp something totally different than what they are used to in Serb culture. I was able to witness to my 70-year old uncle, Stamenko, with whom I have never been able to speak so much in Serbian. I could not yet give the Gospel verbally but I gave him a tract and encouraged him to read it telling him that is what we came here for. Please pray for his salvation as well as my 77- year old uncle, Bogoljub, who has cancer.
We want to wish everyone a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! God bless!
Please Pray For:
- Salvation of my mom (Vera)
- Serbians to be saved
- Salvation of Stamenko, Bogoljub, Nenad, & Dragana
- Learn language & culture
- More laborers in Serbia
