Dear Pastor, Church, and praying friends:
Further Language Studies
As mentioned in the last prayer letter, I started a language course in Belgrade that would hopefully help me progress towards fluency. Up until this year we have only had private tutors at home which has been slow progress. I hoped this separate course would help and I think it has. It has been more intensive than our tutor lessons with 3 hours a day every week day. I just finished up the second month of it the first week of April.
Through the language institute I have been able to meet several others from around the world also learning Serbian here in Serbia. I have prayed to be a witness to them and we were able to have a couple of them over at the house for lunch. Alex from America brought his British girlfriend Rosanna one day and I was able to give them the Gospel. Though they were very friendly and congenial they unfortunately dismissed it stating they were satisfied with their beliefs. It’s disappointing, of course, but we need to keep reminding people that their beliefs will not get them to heaven if they are not from the Bible! We need to keep proclaiming the old Gospel despite people’s dismissiveness toward it. Someone will receive it!
We also had Vid over for lunch, a Slovenian from Brussels. As I gave him the Gospel, he asked some odd questions; I found out through that eventually that he leans toward Calvinism. I loaned him a book showing the unbiblical, irrational nature of Calvinism and I pray he will see the truth and come to a saving knowledge of Jesus Christ.
In other news, we finished Luke last week and are prepping Matthew now, and then Mark to be able to have people review them. There are apparently several that are looking forward to getting it, even just to be able to read it, not necessarily review it. Also, we reworked one of the tracts we have been using. We are awaiting a new batch of 30,000 of them to be delivered.
Please pray that I may continue to be a witness at the language school and that Alex, Rosanna, Vid and others there would be saved. We are also gearing up for a supporting pastor and family from Indiana to come the second week of April who are well known musicians. We are going to use their visit as an evangelistic opportunity so please pray much for April 13th for us! Thank you!
Your servants to Serbia,
Danny, Rachel, Katelyn, Brianna & Rebekah Foss
